Cliché Tape

Plate tape is a specialised type of tape used in the printing industry. It is generally used to secure or mount printing plates on flexographic and offset printing presses. Plate tapes are typically used to secure printing plates to the printing cylinders.

General Features

  • Adhesiveness: It contains a special adhesive and is generally used to secure printing plates to the drum or plates of printing presses.
  • Flexibility: Plate bands must be flexible in order to fit plates of different shapes and sizes.
  • Durability: It must be durable due to the high speeds and printing pressure in printing machines.
  • Design for Suitable Surfaces: It must demonstrate good adhesion on different surfaces (for example, metal or plastic surfaces).
  • Heat Resistance: As temperatures may rise, particularly in certain printing presses, the plate belts are heat-resistant.

These types of belts are used to mount printing plates onto printing cylinders. In the printing industry, they are of critical importance for the precise positioning and securing of printing plates.

Areas of Application

  • Packaging Industry: Stencil tapes are used in the packaging industry to print on cardboard, plastic or metal packaging. Stencil tapes play a key role in the process of printing text, logos or patterns onto packaging. They are widely used in the manufacture of corrugated cardboard boxes and in the printing industry for business cards, envelopes, labels, cards and so on.
  • Publishing and Printing: In the publishing sector—such as newspapers, magazines or books—cliché tapes are used to secure printing plates on printing presses. For large billboards, posters or other large-scale printing jobs, cliché tapes can be used to secure the printing plates.
  • Label and Foil Printing: Printing plates can be used to print on product labels, foils and similar items.

Cliché plates are widely used in industrial printing processes that require high precision and reliability.
